Clodoaldo
Clodoaldo Tavares de Santana , best known as
Clodoaldo (born
september 26,
1949 in
Aracaju) was a
football (soccer) player from
Brazil, known as one of the most agile players and best dribblers ever. The light, fast, and dexterous player of average height was either fielded in an offensive or defensive midfield role with both
Santos Futebol Clube and the
Brazilian national team, for which he was capped 69 times (40 officially) between
1969 and
1974, scoring a total of 3 goals. He won the
Football World Cup 1970, having contributed to the famous 'long shot' goal by
Carlos Alberto Torres by dribbling past five of the opposition's players before giving a 'through pass' to the goal scorer. Earlier that game, an attempted back-heel intercepted by the Italians led to their scoring the equalising goal.
