Djurgårdens IF Hockey is the ice hockey section of the Swedish club Djurgårdens IF, based in Stockholm.

History

Djurgårdens is among the most successful teams in Sweden, having won the most Swedish Championships as well as producing many of Sweden's best players. In the 2005/06 season, the team missed the play-offs for the Swedish Championship for the first time in 19 years.

In addition to its 16 national championships, the team finished second 8 times (1923, 1924, 1927, 1979, 1984, 1985, 1992, 1998) and were also European champions twice.

Four former players won Olympic gold with the Sweden national team at Torino 2006. Most notable among them was Mats Sundin from the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Djurgårdens has a supporters' club called Järnkaminerna (The Iron Stoves). Although their home ice is at the Stockholm Globe Arena, some home games are played at their smaller, former home arena, Hovet.

The most common nicknames are for the team is "Järnkaminerna" (The Iron Stoves), "Stockholms Stolthet" (The Pride of Stockholm) and "Mesta Mästarna" (The Most Triumphant Champions).
